2004-06-01 10:04 AM submission call/ and oh what a glorious day We're looking for stories and essays that are moody, dark, real, gritty. Stories about internal conflict juxtaposed against the external demands, about real life people coming to terms, be it good or bad, with themselves and the choices they've made or are about to make. We're looking for pieces with the less-spoken, but common universal truths. Make us laugh, make us cry, make us hurt in the deepest, darkest parts of our souls. But most of all, be honest, raw, real. We need a few more fiction pieces, but have a special need for more nonfiction writing. Fiction 1000 words, nonfiction 1500 words. We will consider longer works if queried first. Deadline for submission is June 15th. yesterday was just a great day. nice coolish weather and after a heavy early morning thunderstorm, it cleared up quite nicely and presented us with a beautiful day. we all went miniature golfing, and yes, mom kicked everyone's butt royally. they thought they had it licked by all the hours spent playing Tiger Woods, but alas, there's a difference in video games and real life. the place we went was real nice. it's at the mall and has mini golf and four different go cart tracks. plus an arcade inside. it's a nascar themed place and i couldn't help but think, that since it's just two miles down from the track(on the same road) that this last week they were probably so busy. it was still pretty busy around there yesterday. i would have thought that most out of towners would have been gone yesterday after sunday's race...but i guess a lot of them have either taken this time as their vacation or just live a few states away(it only takes a few hours to get to virginia, and four to west virginia, about an hour to sc, six to atlanta, and so on...) i'm sure one of the reasons z had such a hard time with his putting is because his hair was constantly in his eyes. he's growing it out, and wants braids all over his head(like the guys in his favorite band Korn). but the good thing about z is he really doesn't care what people think about his appearance. that's good in school, of course later in life it could be a hinderance. but he's such a not-givin-a-shit kid, i tell you. his hair is finally long enough so that he can pull it back in a ponytail, although a very short one. but one day last week, he comes downstairs on his way out the door, and i had a real shock. he had his hair pulled back in two ponytails/doggie ears. what a nut. but to be honest, it looked pretty good on him. he said he had some teasing at school, but it did seem to impress some girls(who i'm sure were attracted to his individuality---even in high school, us girls can appreciate that) ok, i forgot one sub on my list the other day...and i subbed another one yesterday, so here's my new stats... Rejected............8 Accepted............4 Still waiting.......8 everyone have a great day! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
