2004-11-06 12:59 PM Finally, I'm able to address this misguided debacle Finally, I think, I'm ready to rant about this election. I've held off, been quite sick to my stomach over the outcome.
Morality is subjective. What I'm most surprised by is that apparently, it's more immoral for two guys to live in a monogamous relationship, than it is to continuously lie to the people YOU WORK FOR, make middle and lower classes choose between food/rent and health care, or take jobs away from your constituents in order to fill the pockets of your old boy network. Wow, I guess all these years I've been wrong. Here all this time, I thought it was immoral not to help the poor, hate those whose lifestyles you don't agree with, and lie out of your own greed. I've been reading the journals here for a few days. Some of the logic being used is based on faulty premises. I'll speak to the one I read where the writer had voted Bush because Kerry's healthcare plan was socialistic and possibly pricey. Hmmmm, let's take a look at this. Let's see, we have a humongous deficit which can only be blamed on Bush. Well, sure, it doesn't affect us now(yeah, right)but we'll be passing this bill down to our kids and more than likely, their kids. Now, let's talk about the millions of dollars Bush has pissed away in a needless war. When the hell will that end? Maybe, maybe, when Bush decides to take on Syria or Iran, we can get the domocracy/wmd two for one discount. More money is going out than is coming in. Your logic, sir, is flawed because Bush already has spent more money than we have and it's only going to get worse. Now lets address this socialistic healthcare issue. First of all, the finer details would have been battled out in the senate and congress, so there would have been some wiggle room on the cost. Secondly, several experts I heard, said that Kerry's healthcare plan wasn't really all that socialistic. I'm guessing it was the (correct) keyword Republicans used to scare the hell out of the American people(that was afterall their campaign platform---FEAR). We've been so endoctrinated into thinking anything socialistic is a dirty word only to be associated with Communism. But, gee, Canada isn't communist, nor is France or those nordic countries. But what the hell, we're just 400 years old, compared to their what 800 or so years, so why the hell should they know more than us when it comes to social issues? I mean, they've stopped fighting wars based on religion several hundred years ago, and as a matter of fact, they've easily managed to separate church and state. Their prisons aren't filled past capacity like our's are, and their students, if not going to college, are placed in apprenticeship programs so they'll have a career for the rest of their lives. But no, they don't know shit, do they? Damn, aren't we so special and smart? As I'm writing this, I'm listening to CNN talk about why the people really voted for Bush. He was clear and consistent on where he stands. Gee, that's a new lesson for the kiddies. It's quite alright to lie, be blantantly wrong, and refuse to take responsibities for your fuck-ups, just so long as you do it with clarity and consistency. Wow, what a strong moral compass Bush has(and apparently, 51% of our country too). Now, for my last little bit of rant. Don't paint me red. My state was pretty close to half and half. As a matter of fact, even tho the majority went for Bush, we elected a Democratic governor. But we are a banking city, so I imagine it was those moneywhores, along with the military families(we have several bases here)that tilted the majority for Bush. But not all things are black and white, or er, red and blue. Ok, I feel my stomach lurching again. Time to stop thinking about the naiveity of country(I'm trying to be nice here and not say IGNORANCE) Isn't it ironic that one of the lyingest nations on the earth can be so fucking gullible?
