2006-08-31 7:02 AM Herrrrrrre's Ernesto! well, woke up this morning to torrential rain. ernesto hasn't made landfall again, but it's close. it should come ashore somewhere between charleston and myrtle beach. we're already getting the outer bands of rain.
now they're saying they don't know if it will get back up to hurricane status (but i believe it's close), but the coast can expect lots and lots of rain. the north carolina coast isn't all that high, elevation wise, and significant amounts of rain usually means the outer banks will end up under water. we're two hours, as the crow flies, from the coast (if you take an actual highway, it's more like four). we never get anything more than rain. but we have low elevations too, and much of the city ends up under water. early last week, we had a storm blow through and dump a huge amount of rain on us in less than two hours. i took cc to work, and much of the road we use to get there was underwater. scarey stuff that. if we still had the hoopty, i wouldn't be so concerned, but about a month ago, cc bought a hundayi tiberon, which sits very low to the ground (this old lady can barely get in and out) supposedly, it started raining about midnight last night. i wouldn't know, because i was out like a light. however, cc, who worked all night, said it didn't start raining then. but when i took mark to work this morning, the road to his work was already under water. usually they close that little section of road, but the police might be busy this morning in other areas, as rain usually means almost a chain reaction affect of accidents. i made it through the little section (bitching the whole way) and then took a main road to get cc. traffic lights are already out in several places and with today and tomorrow of this, it's only going to get worse before it gets better. i don't mind tho, it's great sleeping weather, and as i type this, i'm considering a little early early morning snooze.
