it's a conspiracy

so i get my new cd player and finally, finally, i can once again pop in my melanie cd, the gather me i've been searching for high and low (thank you thank you thank you once again d!) and when it hits the second song, it begins to drag, skip and i'm livid!

i've played this cd maybe 20 times, but no more. i look at the back it's not scratched, so i'm thinking it's the player, right.

so i stick in my alice in chains acoustic (really really good, i mean really really good, it's surprising how differently the acoustic is to the "plugged in" versions...love their lyrics...OMG) i've had this cd forever...the boy has listened to it almost as much as i, and the back of it looks a little nasty (scratchy)...i'm now on the third track and NO PROBLEMS. it's still playing flawlessly!

it's a conspiracy i tell you. the powers that be don't want me to listen to melanie. i'm sick. and i don't know what to do about it.

the gather me album (let's face it, it was an actual album when it first came out, not a cassette, not a cd, an album) is just about the only constant i've had in my life. i could always put this on, think back to the time when me and my sisters actually lived in the same house (they were older and gone when i was fairly young) my oldest sister, who i have the most in common with (intellectually and yeah, personality-wise) found this album and when i hear it, it takes me back to the 70's when things were less scary, less complicated, and it's a connection to her at that time (add jethro tull, cat stevens and yes, alice cooper's billion dollar babies to that).

in the words of nancy kerrigan..."why? why me?"

btw, the scratched up "alice in chains" is still playing without a hitch.

why, why me?

*sigh*
