2008-09-03 6:37 PM Hat Ho Everyone I know has seen me in my various hats...my straw hat (that is still my profile pic on my zazzle gallery) my photoshop and jpeg shot of me in my mom's old vintage hat, and me in my beach hat (if you visit my photography gallery)
I love hats. Reenie's latest photo is one of her in her truck wearing a wonderful hat. I commented about how I loved it (remember...hat ho) and maybe i've told this story before, i'm sure i probably have...but... my oldest sister, who i'm supposed to be like (uh, parents always saying "she sounds just like cindy" "she has cindy's attitude" "look, she even has cindy's legs") moved away when she was 19...i was 9. as a matter of fact, her birthday is tomorrow and mine is 10 days (and 10 years later) we did always get along...but i only ever got to see my oldest sister maybe every 5 to 10 years. my middle sister was kind of the "sister out" not that she's a horrid person, she's not...just that's she's different and more like our dad, where cyn and i take after our mom. so years ago (geez, like 15 or 13) my sister comes to town, in our little burg in arkansas. we go to the mall...a small mall by most standards...and we go to dillard's dept store. mom, cyn and i wander into the hat department and begin trying on different hats (my mom used to have the BEST collections of hats, tho most were the "pillbox" type that she eventually gave all away except the wonderful hat she gave me (vintage 1964), and yes, cyn was a little ticked that i got it and not her). as the three of us tried on hats, we're giggling and joking and having a lot of fun...and the snooty dillard's staff are looking at us, keeping an eye on us...yet we didn't care. cyn and i went back a week later with middle sis in tow. we just couldn't help ourselves, we again started trying on hats, wanting jay to get into it only she couldn't. she kept thinking we were going to get in trouble and get kicked out. every time we'd get her to try on a hat, she would always look like the proverbial deer in the headlights. eyes darting around, so afraid she'd get into trouble. sometimes the best things in life are free. I think tomorrow's Envisage365 will be another shot of me in my mom's vintage hat (uh...sadly i lost all the others in the great trojan virus of 2008) Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
