2008-09-24 10:10 PM Warning: a political rant Maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn I heard Dubya lay a large part of the economic blame on the citizens. I can't be for sure because Z changed the channel not wanting to hear my grumblings.
At the time, not wanting to listen to the liar, I was at the computer writing my congressmen. I've never done that before but I'm mad as hell and I, for one, am not going to take it anymore! I wrote my two senators, one a democrat, one a republican. I tried to write my representative, but the website wasn't working. Not surprising that the federal government can't maintain the upkeep on their website. I'm sure they'll have to call their tech support in India within the next day or two to fix the problem. After Bush dragged us into an illegal war and then especially after he was voted back in, I washed my hands of everything. I was sick, sick to death, I was nauseated at the manipulation and out and out lying that slightly (ever so slightly)over half of this country bought into. So for my own sanity, I sat back and admittedly stopped paying attention. Only that's the problem, this country wasn't founded on apathy. And I can no longer sit idly by and watch it all go down the tubes for a bunch of greedy corporations and bought politians who think only of themselves and not the PEOPLE. Enough is enough! They are ALL to blame for this crap! Both sides! It's time for the American people to rise up and let their voices be heard. I don't care what party you're with, who you are "backing" this election, wake up! Stand up! If not for yourself then for your children and your children's children. I may not be able to do much, but I have my voice and I have my words, and I by God intend to use them. While I realize there probably needs to be some sort of help for Wall Street to keep our economy from completely imploding and disintegrating in on the American people, do not give Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke carte blanc, basically the equivalent of an economic Patriot Act. Initial help needs to be limited. Not the $700 billion that they want. Some sort of regulation and transparency is a must. Make the CEOs responsible for their part in this debacle. If the American people, most importantly the majority of citizens who had NOTHING to do with this, have to suffer, then the CEOs should too. Accountability needs to flow up, not just down. Over the last eight years, everything from food, to gas, to our national debt has grown exponentially, and it’s time to put a stop to this ludicrous and destructive behavior. Everyone is responsible for this mess from the desperate wannabe homeowners, to the banks, to mortgage companies to our own government. It’s time to stop throwing good money after bad, especially when the ones who will benefit the most have the least to lose. We the people, WE the people demand that you start thinking of us! Don't turn your back. Don't leave it up to someone else. Don't say "but I'm only one person, what can I do?" Use your words, use your voice and let those fools in Washington know that WE do indeed CARE and we're watching them closely! There is power in numbers and only we can truly change the course this country takes in the future. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
