2009-01-19 4:06 PM Never, In My Lifetime have I seen such anticipation of not only an Inauguration, but also of an incoming President, not only by we Americans, but by the world.
Tomorrow, history will be made. The first African American President will be sworn into office. I have always believed a black man would get into that office before a woman. After all, black men got to vote long before women. And Obama really had to overcome some startling odds (a middle name of Hussien and a Muslim father, for starters) But tomorrow is so much more than that statistic. It is the symbolic enema our country has needed for the last eight years. We've been impacted, blocked and in severe pain. Now it's time to dig the shit out and detox our collective systems. The usually cynical cynic will reserve her judgement of the Obama/Biden administration until after the first 4 years (if not 8) But hope is a powerful emotion. Let us hope that hope isn't all for naught. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
