2009-05-26 1:36 AM Movie Madness Yet another installation of movie madness...
Slumdog Millionaire The tale of two brothers (and one girl) growing up in the slums of India. I'm not gonna lie, it ain't all pretty and shows the underside of their society. They revere all animals but don't seem to treat their fellow humans to well. The story follows the three when they are small, around 6 or 7, onto when they are teens and into their late teens-early 20's. To say anymore than that would give too much away I think. It's worth a watch (it is above all else, a love story) four paws up Revolutionary Road Well, this wasn't what I thought it would be. The Titanic stars are reunited in this 1950's story of a married couple and the ups and downs of that relationship. It was kind of hard for me to watch, considering my last two years, but it's not a bad film. Leonardo DiCaprio does a fine job (and he's not bad to look at) as does...oh, what's her name? LOL...Kate Winslet. It's sad, though, so be prepared. 3 and a half paws up Saints and Soldiers I found this one on hulu.com (they have a few good films there) Set in WWII it's the story of a group of soldiers, four Americans and one Brit who are trying to reach their forces to relay important information but have to fight the Germans and the winter along the way. I don't usually watch war movies, but this is more about the relationships between the men, and the emotions--traumas--of war. The two main characters are from different walks of life, one an agnostic New Yorker-medic and one a devout christian-sniper (they say in the preview he's mormon, but that is not specifically noted in the film) It was a pretty good movie and worth a viewing. four paws up The Big Hit Also on hulu.com...This has Mark Walburg, Lou Diamond Phillips and Anthony Sabata Jr. I saw this years back and watched it again. It's a little cheesy but it does have comedy in it. Mark Walburg is a hit man who's honest and just wants everyone to like him. He is taken advantage of by two women (one Christina Applegate) The Phillips character wants him to moonlight (which is against the rules of their boss Paris) and they end up kidnapping a heiress with ties to the mob. Sounds like a comedy, eh? But it is. If you've nothing better to do, it's not a horrible movie. 2 and a half paws up Dirty Deeds Another from hulu.com...It stars the Milo guy from Heroes...and it is a simple teen/high school movie. Not as funny as say Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but I really didn't expect much. This is a, really if you have nothing better to do and an hour and a half to waste (as I apparently did) you might want to watch it. It's typical teen fare. 1 and a half paws up That's it.
