2010-02-10 7:48 PM Movie Madness edition ???? I've been on a movie bender...so here we go.
Inglorious Basterds: Honestly, I loved Reservoir Dogs but I think this is one of Quinten's finest. As I think I stated on Facebook, I'm not too fond of Pitt's Tennessee accent, but it does grow on you. Of course, in typical Quinten fashion, it has a few storylines which converge into one. Great flick. Awesome flick! I love when Brad tries to speak Italian with that accent. Reminds me of the guy in my Spanish class who spoke perfect Spanish but had that hicky Lavaca accent. 4 paws up and a tail wag. Precious: Depressing, depressing, depressing. That being said, I love the imagination part of it and Precious has quite the imagination. The director did an awesome job. Mo'Nique did a fine job of acting (tough role) as did (I can't believe I'm about to say this) Mariah Carey. Maybe if she lost all that make-up and acted like an every day person, we wouldn't look at her as such a worthless diva bitch. It's a sad, horrible story, but Precious comes through in the end. My only complaint is I'd like to know exactly how far in life Precious actually got. 4 paws up. Julia and Julie: Ok, I like to cook. Not quite to Julia's standards but there is something about this film that I could relate to. Meryl Streep, as usual, did an outstanding job as Julia Child. I tell you, I just received my mother's recipes and this movie makes me really want to get on with finishing my cookbook. Great movie! 4 paws up and a tail wag. It's Complicated: Yeah, things are always complicated when you live in a beautiful house (which you're looking to add on to) and Alec Baldwin is your ex-husband. It's a cute movie. But I can't muster much feelings for a woman who has a career and a great house post divorce. I have too many friends who are left in abject poverty post divorce, including me. So I guess you can say, it's a great fantasy flick. After all, we all want our husbands to come back and re-fall in love with us (missing what they had all along yet took for granted) after THEY dumped us. Only most of us don't have a fantastic life to fall back on. Let's see a guy who loves a woman and when he dumps said woman begins to make good for himself despite what the woman has been telling him for years and years. You lose! 3 paws up. ooooo....Hurt Locker: Can't believe I almost forgot this film. Great movie! It takes a documentary view of the guys in Iraq who have to disarm the IUDs (IED?). I enjoyed it. Edge of the seat watching and fyi, the director used to be married to Cammeron of Avatar. Let's hear it for the girls... 4 paws up (and yes a tail wag, if only to stick it to the boys) Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
