2010-05-21 7:52 AM Wedding Incredible i've been back a few days.
z and i going off of mapquest got lost first in virgina. we missed a turn in suffolk. we ended up in downtown virgina beach which looks exactly like daytona beach. girls in skimpy skirts staggering their way back to their hotel. i wish my camera was decent, because the cheasapeake bay bridge tunnel was awesome! i'm told the tunnels are actually under water. i roll up with quarters in hand thinking it's a toll road. it is a toll but unfortunately, it cost $12 to cross. it is 17 miles. on the way back it was during the day and although it was rainy and cloudy, it was an awesome sight to see! i got lost first in virgina and then in maryland. by the time we hit north carolina, asche was giving us the "are we there yet?" eyes. it was a long trip, a lot of driving and i won't do that again. sivi's wedding was great. she had the reception at a yacht club and we could see ocean city md from the club.z and i will be flying up for brie's wedding in d.c. in august. it's an easier route to drive but it's just too much driving. as brie isn't as artist and is hiring people to do most of the work for her, mom has two days of sight seeing set aside. neither jayme or z has been to d.c. z wants to see the national museum of art. now, if we can just keep nanna from touching the paintings. she likes to feel the brush strokes. i did however get to add rest areas to my ever expanding rest stop list. rest stops: nevada, arkansas, tennessee, north carolina, oklahoma, south carolina, geogia, maryland, virginia, florida. i'm thinking i hit missouri and kansas but i can't be sure. i've made it quite a ways up the eastern seaboard. okla, maryland and virginia have the worst rest stops. maryland didn't even have the new auto toilets. it was quite a disappointment. so far, florida leads the pack. they even have security. oh, here's some pics http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=d8281585a413b836&sid=8AcM2rlq2ctGcs not a direct link but copy paste.
