2010-07-18 7:29 AM beach beach baby! wow, yesterday was a gorgeous day. john dragged us down to cocoa beach, by coconuts. there is barely a square inch there to squat on. it's the tourist beach. i was cranky bitch. we spent an hour going from store to store trying to find a "do rag" for john's bald head. i did manage to score a nice white cowboy hat. yay! once i finally got to the beach, cranky bitch disappeared.
little miss southern belle hung out under the umbrella, but i did lay in the surf for a bit. i can't see that i got any sun, but that's ok. i don't have the umbrella for nothing. and for all those wondering, well, weather.com (the weather channel) says the oil has made it around this big appendage we live on to our little eastern side of the state. however, having been in the surf, i really didn't see any oil. the water was dirty brown, but that's not unusual for us. i learned from visiting beaches in n.c. that the further up the coast you go, the dirtier the water. maybe one day i'll make it down to miami or key west where the waters are reported blue, like the caribbean. the undertow was quite strong though. it always amazes me how the ocean pushes forward and then sucks back. i was literally turned 180 degrees when the tide rolled back out. i'm no physics person, i don't know how it works but that tide is strong enough to carry away a small child. i'm very proud of traci. she can't swim but she walked into the surf more than once (larry would be pissed that i let her go into the ocean to begin with.) i think she got bit by a crab though. anyway, it was a good day had by all. i did get a little sun on my back (yes, i'm rocking the two piece, if you can't win, join them) today's local forcast is 95 degrees. i ain't buying what they're selling. 95 means 110 with the heat index (in other words, humidity, my nemesis) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
