2005-06-16 9:25 PM a problem with four Read/Post Comments (2) |
LB's gotten ok with numbers of objects, as long as it's 1, 2, or 3. Within that realm, if you show him some he can tell you how many are there without any hesitation or counting. However, when you get to four he has a problem, it's showed itself twice this evening.
At dinner, he had four pieces of cheese left. I asked him to count them and he counted 1, 2, 3, looked at 4, then counted piece #3 again, as four, and then the last one as 5. I then pointed to each piece and had him count with me, he counted 1-3 correctly, then counted 4 & 5 while I pointed to the last piece. We were reading the Very Hungry Caterpillar and he eats one, then two then three of various things. He eats through 4 strawberries-one of LB's favorite fruits. When he looked at that page he said 5 strawberries, then did his goofy counting bit again with me. I don't know what he has against the number four as an end to a list, but he has some sort of aversion to it. I just hope he gets over it in the next 1.5 years or so, otherwise he'll be a miserable 4 year old!! We had another logic issue today. The conversation went something like this: LB: I have Pediasure downstairs. me: You don't need Pediasure, you're not sick. LB: I am sick. me: You are? I don't think you're sick. LB: I'm sick because I need Pediasure. Now that's some messed up logic!! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
