Although it looks as if I will actually string together three workouts this week, when I travel like this, I am always looking for opportunities to add a little exertion in airports. I take stairs where I can find them, eschew trams if possible and, when confronted with a moving walkway, I not only don't use it, I -- this is a little embarrassing -- covertly race the people who are walking on it.

And I usually win. Even today, going uphill in the Charlotte airport.

The thing is, although I try to disguise myself as a person in a terrible, terrible hurry -- frowning, looking worried -- I have noticed that some people on the walkway speed up. (It's probably disconcerting, being passed by this frowning woman who is clearly no spring chicken.)

So if I write a book on airport fitness, that's tip #1: Moving walkway races. Any other suggestions?
