2003-07-20 12:52 PM Furniture assembly, or how to work oneself into a murderous rage in 3 short hours Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Annoyed Read/Post Comments (1) Furniture that comes in boxes should be self-assembling. I firmly believe that many murders could be prevented if this were so, especially after 'nipping out' to finally get a dresser (I've been using those cardboard thingies for years) as part of my cleaning up my study project. Three hours later, I was feeling, well, pretty darned unhappy. I don't know if I just wasn't swearing properly or what, but I just don't grok furniture assembly. Grrr.
On the up side, I've just run through 2 of my stories, editing-wise, and kicked one of them out for feedback. Still haven't gotten a 1st edit on the 3rd, though. Aaargh. I need to kick all 3 of them out by next weekend or else. (I don't know 'or else what', but do you really want to find out?) My husband scored a signed yes, you heard me, signed, copy of Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy worth about $400. Price paid at the idiot bookstore that won't buy any of the books I bring them and is staffed by loud teenagers? $16.00. Yup. I got an extra-nice copy of Dune (Easton Press) for the same price (worth about $90; unsigned, unfortunately). sigh. Currently Reading: still reading "Darwin's Radio" and "Dracula". Also, "The Four-Chambered Heart" by Anais Nin. Recommend: "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison. Chilling. Stories out: 4? Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
