That's not a hummingbird, or Why is the Chirping Toad Blue?

It's good to know that the hummingbird feeders that I hung on the pavilion are being used. Someday, they may even be used by hummingbirds. There is a really big bee that is addicted to it instead. I found him with his head stuck into it as far as it would go, little legs scrabbling for a hold. Then he'd lose his grip, fall off, and buzz his way drunkenly back to it. I guess I'll have to put up a little recovery house next to it.

We've been the proud owners of one (1) toad in the garden. Andreas mowed the back yard and stuck it in a bucket for the duration. He commented that it chirped. I was thinking, "oh, high pitched croaking". Nope. Chirped, as in 'like a bird'. Peep, peep, peep, chirp, warble, trill. Too damn cute. She had blue on her belly and feet, which we're debating the cause of. I currently think it's because of the blue calcified sand that was thrown in the back yard after the lizards died. Andreas prefers the leftover Miracle-Gro theory. The toad won't say. Unless that's what 'chirp' means.

Currently having fun with folklore, fairy tales, and mythology. Yes, there is a difference. I should have a story written by the end of the weekend, if I'm lucky.
