This is just too much. C'mon folks. This is *basic*. This isn't "who was the 23rd President and what color were his p.j.'s". Just...damn.

Man Tries To Sell Vote On eBay Poster Says He Didn't Realize It Was Illegal POSTED: 9:16 am EDT August 27, 2004 ELYRIA, Ohio -- It was a case of one man, one vote and one eBay offer to sell. An Elyria man, James Pengov, needed money for medical bills and offered on eBay to sell his vote. His offer was online just 12 hours before authorities were alerted and yanked it. Pengov says he didn't know that selling a vote is illegal. The California Secretary of State's office came across his posting and notified Ohio authorities.

There was a poll there, too. "Do you think it should be illegal to sell your vote?" The overwhelming response? No. I don't even understand how this works. Explain it to me. Do you pay someone and then tell them how to vote and expect that they do it? How would you know? Do you get a refund if they don't? What's next? His pursuit of happiness up for grabs? "Excuse me, sir, but I purchased your pursuit of happiness off e-bay last week. I must say it's not working out for me. Turns out that we just don't have the same idea of happiness. I want my money back"

Whee... Right, then. As you were.
