Looks like we have another bid for enforcing other people's morals on the rest of us poor heathens. Heathens being anyone who don't beleive that Every Sperm is Sacred (c'mon, sing along) and that perhaps we should't cover the world like cockroaches until we use up every last resource...oh, and also those who aren't strictly attracted to only those people of the opposite sex. I can just see the morally upright person in the doctor's office quizzing folks as to their sexual preference so that they can deny treatment...
The bills would allow health care workers, facilities and insurers to refuse to perform a procedure, fill a prescription or cover treatment they object to for moral, ethical or religious reasons, except in medical emergencies. "As written, this law would allow a health care provider to not provide health care services to someone based on their actual or perceived sexual orientation," said state Rep. Chris Kolb, the Michigan Legislature's only openly gay lawmaker. "It's very worrisome and disturbing." You know, birth control pills aren't solely for the use of preventing pregnancies. I particularly enjoy not being incapacitated by searing agonies every other month, thank you very much. [/rant] Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
