2005-05-02 2:31 PM Monday blah, blah, blah, blah Mood: So-So Read/Post Comments (0) |
May 2, 2005
Slow to get going today, but received a rough-up of a cover article I wrote for a magazine, but was amused they were modifying it from another cover that said BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH across the front. I e-mailed the editor back to say I liked it, and given today's mood, even felt the blah, blah, blah, blah was appropriate. Jumped in on the novel, then started on the Medicare article. Had to run some errands, so did that and ate lunch, came back, walked the dog, then went back to the Medicare article. Now I'm waiting around for a guy to call me about writing for him--hmmm, he's late. Irene read Bad Intentions and loved it. She's waiting for Ashley to read it so they can then decide what to do with it. Given my track record with these things, Ashley will probably talk Irene out of marketing it. Ouch--that was me kicking myself for the negative thinking. Ashley will love it and they'll immediately send it off somewhere and bring in a big cash advance, etc. (Hey, it's possible). Two series simultaneously? Possibly three? If they were all money makers, sure. If not, then I've got a problem. We'll see. And I'm not entirely sure if my heart is in writing another Theo MacGreggor novel, although at one time I would have been happy with a career writing about him. (See Catfish Guru). Still, a book contract might inspire me in that direction. Of course, contract negotiations with Midnight Ink are going glacially slow, at least from my pov. Not a surprise that I think so, but you can just tell that every time my agent suggests a change the editor goes back to a committee, who discusses it for a day or two then counter-offer. The mills of publishing grind slowly (which probably explains all the gruel it regularly produces). Well, no phone call yet so I think I'll go back to hacking away at the Medicare article.
