2002-06-25 1:00 AM Risk is not your friend Previous Entry :: Next Entry Well, SciFi called JoAnn and they're only looking to adapt existing material for backdoor pilots (like from published stories and novels) and not original material. They don't want the risk of something new, but the safety of something used.
Ah, well, keep plugging. JoAnn needs another script from me, so I'm setting myself a challenge to write a complete first draft my spec Crossing Jordan within a week. There's a couple of reasons for me to do this: I need a new spec, and I want to find out if I can go from premise to script in five days while working full time. So, I've picked Crossing Jordan. It's got drama, proceedural elements, interesting characters, all of which should mean that JoAnn will have a wider market of readers to choose from. It's also successful enough to have been renewed for 2002/2003, but not so successful that there will be millions of Crossing Jordan specs out there swamping the market. All in all, for me it'll be a solid sample to have in my portfolio. Onward! Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
