2004-03-02 5:46 PM Short script entree? Previous Entry :: Next Entry I have three web sites that I've been browsing for "I need scripts" posts. One thing I've noticed is that short scripts are in constant demand -- moreso than full features. Most often, filmmakers want short scripts to make short films for the festival circuit. Sundance, Slamdance, Austin Film Festival, et cetera. There's a ton of film festivals out there, including a very small one for Cornell Alumni. Okay, it's more a showing than a festival, but still, it's a way to get material in front of people.
To get to the point, I occasionally send queries to these posts, and I've received another interested response. I've forwarded Proof of Love to this individual, and we'll see if he likes it or not. This particular person is starting his own production company, and wants to develop short material. But it does get me thinking that maybe I should work on some more short, low-budget scripts for these opportunities. The pay may not be good but the exposure might make up for it. And there seems to be an awful lot of opportunities, from individuals who haven't developed the protective cloak of fear donned by studios. Oh, the Oscar party? Pretty much a dud. Not much networking or partying for that matter. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
