2004-03-24 10:01 PM I'll take one of these, and one of these... Previous Entry :: Next Entry I've embarked on writing an original TV spec with my writing partner. Today, we went on the WB lot to look at the standing sets that WB has, for some inspiration about our location. It was great fun to drive the electric cart amongst the canvasses of make-believe, and find the bits and pieces of the street that we're creating.
It was also a bit thrilling to be looking at the facades and talking about our script while the VIP Tour groups were passing by. Almost made me feel like a real movie mogul. Or, at least, a mogul-in-training. Best of all, though, we have concrete examples of how our street looks. It gives us a mental flavor we didn't have before. Now I'm off to work on my feature that tried to be a miniseries, that's now on the operating table to turn into a feature again (with a page-1 rewrite). Sometimes these starts and restarts just seem so exhausting, and make me feel like a fraud. However, I've also become keenly suspicious that there's a fine line between controlling the craft of writing and succumbing to the freedom of raw inspiration. I hope that with this realization, I'll be able to balance them both so that I can embrace the pure joy of writing, while writing something worth enjoying. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
