A friend of mine at work is a singer, and has a fairly large producing streak in her blood, and likes my writing. She decided to get a bunch of the talented folks that she knows together and produce a one-night showcase of talent. We batted some ideas around, and came up with short acted dramas, interspersed with musical/singing numbers. (Many of her friends are musical people.)

I gave her four of my Demo Reel scenes as samples of what I had in mind as filler material. We chatted again today, and now the filler material is becoming the backbone of the evening. She loves the scenes, and wants to thread three of them together to work through a beginning/middle/end for the evening.

But the really neat thing is that she proposed doing the scenes 1-2-3, then in the second half of the show, do the scenes 3-2-1, with different music, a different tone, and end up with a completely different take on the material.

It sounds way cool, and I believe she'll be able to pull it off. She's going to give me a list of the songs she wants to mix with the scenes, then I'll take the three scenes and tweak them a bit so that they flow smoother, and have one main character that ties them together.

I proposed a showcase title of "Mirror, Mirror" given what she's thinking of, and that may take (it may not, too). However, it will be very cool to see the scenes done on stage, by professionals!
