Sunday meetings
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

I had two meetings on Sunday, one with Secondpenny Entertainment writers (the internet drama) and the other to work on the notes for our Joan spec.

The first was pretty redundant for me. The producers updated us on what was going on, and why there have been shooting delays (two actor injuries, one digital camera that's overheating) and what to expect going forward. Of the seven or so people there, I'm the only one who wants to write period. Everyone else there is looking to write and direct. Fortunately, I'm paired with a wonderful director who really just wants to direct, and who's going to bring some of his own equipment to the shoot, which should up the quality of my episode.

Apparently there was a rehearsal for my episode on Saturday, which everyone forgot to notify me about (it was finalized on Friday, it turns out). The ep is set to shoot this coming weekend. I've been invited to the set, but I don't know if I will end up going -- I'll probably be in the way. Though it would be good to see Brian Oshab (the director) in action -- he's a good guy to work with, and if his directorial talents match, we could work together frequently.

Also, I took a private moment of glee when I learned that episode 3 of the Return needs a major rewrite (from what I could read between the lines). My ep had two minor tweaks, and I was really happy to know that I provided them good stuff right away.

Then I buzzed over to Jennise's to work on the Joan notes. What I anticipated to be a 4-hour fight (with the script, not with Jennise) turned into a 2-hour, pretty easy, revamp. It actually surprised both of us -- we were expecting the one major note to be more difficult to work out.

So, that's off to The It Company for another review. I'm hoping that now it will be only minor tweaks until they're happy with it, and I'll be happy to be done with it!
