He asked for the script

Which is another way of saying mission accomplished, the pitch went well.

We met with a fellow named Adam, and our friend Kerry sat in on the pitch with us. The building, by the way, is this lovely mix of brick and more modern feel. I really liked it -- it would be a cool place to have an office. We chit-chatted for a while; Adam set a relaxed, easy-going mood that we matched easily. We were chatting so well, in fact, that Kerry had to segue us to Main Street.

So we talked about Main Street. We started out our pitch as practiced and it quickly took on a life of its own as we responded to the mood already set as well as Adam's questions. We had answers to his questions, we intrigued him about the idea; the only critique was that he felt it was too "soft."

Development notes.

I think by "soft" he meant that there was no overarching evil or danger or arc -- this is more episodic about people's dramas. Jennise feels that once he reads the script, he'll see the more long-term conflicts that fills his needs.

We were in with Adam for an hour, and the only reason we stopped talking was because he had a conference call he'd forgotten about and had to get called out to it. (It was real; we heard him talking on his phone in the office after.) We probably could have talked longer.

We went out to lunch with Kerry afterward, and asked her how she thought it went. She thought we pitched just fine.

The future rests in the hands of our writing (and perhaps whim and a bit of fortune on the business side). Adam will read the script (Kerry's giving it to him today), then if he likes it will discuss in a Monday staff meeting. Others at the company will then read it, and after that we'll see what happens.

For a first pitch, we comported ourselves like grownups.

Once I know anything about the fate of Main Street, I'll update. In the meanwhile, I'll be working on accomplishing the same thing for Spacetime at SciFi.

Carpe keyboardum!
