2009-02-03 1:06 PM The frustrating thing about writing... Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) ...is that the better you get, the harder it is to be good. As I struggle with an outline I'm putting together, I wistfully reflect upon the naive days when I just sat down and typed in a rush of words and emotions that seemed to flow from heart to fingertips.
Problem is, those first pieces were pretty crappy. Or at least seriously flawed. Over time I've developed a sixth sense for when something's not working, and I have to fix what's not working before I can advance. Experience has taught me that if I build on a flawed foundation, the whole house inevitably topples. I still have the moments of creative flow, it's just harder to get there. I can only hope that when I *am* there, the flow is pure, unadulterated goodness and not the cloudier mist of yesteryear. But still... the nostalgia...
