The subject says it all: I finished a preview version of the February issue of Lone Star Stories yesterday that the authors (and literary agent for the Goyen tale) can visit and comment upon to their hearts' content. So far, I've only had some textual spacing issues that are now resolved. It's a very pleasant feeling to have the issue ready to go.

I received my first poetry submission today, and I'm mulling it over. Send more verse (and prose, of course), folks.

Several journals have noted the advent of The Internet Review of Science Fiction, and I too looked it over. It's actually quite interesting. I particularly enjoyed the Darrell Schweitzer interview and the Baha'i-SF article. A subscription is required to read the current issue, but it's free. Go check it out.

I fiddled with one of my poems last night, inspired/amused by reading experimental poetry in various online venues. I'm a bright fellow, but I have the hardest time understanding what the heck some of these experimental poets are trying to say with their verse. I have issues with abstract art (I find it generally unappealing and uninteresting), and experimental poetry tends to raise similar problems with me. I am forcing myself to wade through a wide cross-section of experimental work, just so I can have a feel for current trends, but it's not very enjoyable. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by a particular poet or journal. Maybe not.
