2004-06-04 8:27 AM Writing and More Writing I added another 600 words to the 5000 word story I wrote a couple of days ago, and I'm just about ready to send it off. I'm asking my writer's group for feedback, and the first member to read it liked it quite a bit and made some excellent suggestions (Thanks, Sam!). I'm looking forward to the feedback of the other members who have time to read the story.
I received another rewrite request yesterday, this one from the new market, Lenox Avenue, and I zipped a revision right back to them. I hope they like the new version! I'm still waiting to hear back from Lost Pages on a revised story, but Claude is a little preoccupied with the strange impostor sending people nasty e-mails in Claude's name. I know I'd find that distracting, so I don't expect a response from him any time soon. My story that passed initial review at NFG received a negative review at the next level due to the piece feeling too much like poetry. Oh well. Hopefully, enough other editors will like the story to outvote this editor. I read through the stories and background of the shared writing world project I just joined, and I'm impressed. I was inspired to write my initial story contribution, a tale of 1300 words, and I sent it to the project's originator to ensure that it doesn't take too many liberties with the shared world. This should be a lot of fun. Lone Star Stories has had over 1000 unique visitors since it began in February 2004. I'm really pleased at how well the 'zine is developing. On the submissions side of things, I only need one story and two poems for the August issue, and I even have a story and poem for the October issue already. Coolness.
