saw Evanescence last night! What a blast! Totally good fun live and the audience...wheshew! totally into it }:> It's fun when I'm not the only one singing along at the top of my lungs. };> The only problems were some technical glitches where Amy's mic would occasionally squeal and pop at the beginning of the show which led to the problem that the band doesn't know what to do with dead air. But ooooh that was fun. Normally I'm a bit tired when a band finally leaves the stage but this time I was bouncy and ready to go again. I checked out their site www.evanescence.com and discovered they count among their influences, Bjork, Danny Elfman and Tori Amos. *grins* They did a cover of Smashing Pumpkins' "Zero" and I was starting to expect maybe a cover of "Leather" or "Big Time Sensuality" So I guess it makes sense. }:> It was also awesome that in the lead up to their stage time they had two opening bands, Atomship and Default, and they were both pretty good. Default was *very* good and I'll try to keep them in mind next time I go shopping for music. Also the fill in music that they played while the roadies switched the stage around caught my attention. Normally artist pick sort of ambient music so as not upstage their own stuff, but this was totally mainstream rock. I'm hesistant to call anything "hard" rock anymore, but this was straight to the basics, four/four time, verse/chorus/verse nearly-all-in-C-major stuff, and wow I hadn't realized how much I miss this stuff! I was expecting to recognize the songs playing during the fills but I didn't, which leads me to believe these are new artists. That makes me very, very happy. }:> Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
