Marriage is love.

Worst film ever?

So, way back in the Reagan administration, I was a movie reviewer in college. I saw lots of good movies and lots of dreck and a couple of great ones. I try to watch films now just for fun, but often fall into reviewer mode.

It's hard for me to identify my favorite films of all time (though "The Philadelphia Story" has generally stayed on top), but it's even harder to identify the worst.

After all, some films are just crap...and crap for crap's sake...like "Police Academy 4" or "Weekend Pass."

Some are dazzlingly bad, with pretentions of being good...say "Natural Born Killers" or "The Postman."

Some are not great, but because they have pretentions of being truly great (or expensive) and bomb, they are bad in some kind of relative sense...for instance "Waterworld" (which come to think of it actually bites) or "Cleopatra" or "Hulk" or "Pearl Harbor."

So how does one pick the worst film ever made?

I'll go with the movie I most regretted ever having seen....from a purely gut reaction standpoint...
it has to be "Butterfly": Pia Zadora, Stacy Keach, Orson Welles, James Franciscus...It was poorly written, poorly acted, dazzingly tawdry, but in a nausea inspiring way....I'm in pain just at the memory. "Trog" is a close second.

Your thoughts?
