2006-06-05 5:32 PM A Trifecta of Do Nothing Governance In these lazy warm days of June, when most voters are more concerned about...Oh, I don't know...maybe...
high gas prices, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the national debt, health care, senior citizens, education, crime, trade policies, bird flu, immigration, and (maybe even) stem cell research... with what is the Senate, thanks to Bill Frist, concerning itself before it takes its summer recess to kick off the 2006 campaign season in earnest? Gay Marriage, Flag Burning, and the estate tax. Hmmmmmm...two proposed amendments to the Constitution that (thank God) have no chance of passage....and a bill that would (yet again) increase the relative tax burden on the poor by eliminating the "millionaires" estate tax permanently. Perhaps, and I know this is a radical thing... Perhaps...they should try governing. It might be a nice change. I wonder...after a week like the next two we are about to have... does the Radical Right leave a tip on the dresser on their way out the door... will Fristy have a sore jaw from sucking (up to Focus on the Family) for two weeks straight (and I do mean straight).... is Shrub just 'faking it' like his Dad was or does self-righteous posturing really turn his crank after all?
