In these lazy warm days of June, when most voters are more concerned about...Oh, I don't know...maybe...

the war in Iraq and Afghanistan,

the national debt,

health care,

senior citizens,

education,

crime,

trade policies,

bird flu,

immigration,

and (maybe even) stem cell research...

with what is the Senate, thanks to Bill Frist, concerning itself before it takes its summer recess to kick off the 2006 campaign season in earnest?

Gay Marriage,

Flag Burning,

and the estate tax.

Hmmmmmm...two proposed amendments to the Constitution that (thank God) have no chance of passage....and a bill that would (yet again) increase the relative tax burden on the poor by eliminating the "millionaires" estate tax permanently.

Perhaps, and I know this is a radical thing...

Perhaps...they should try governing.

It might be a nice change.
