2006-08-23 11:53 PM A family unravels My Brother, Still Waters, emailed me this morning. His wife of 20 years has decided to end their marriage and is considering taking their two teenagers back to the Lone Star state from Great White North state.
The issue is broken trust. Still Waters concealed a number of financial issues in the past, which we all thought had been fully resolved. One more (surprisingly innocuous) became known this week, and the camel's back finally gave way. There is much pain...made all the more difficult because as a family unit they are largely disconnected from the extended families on both sides--by their prior choice. I hope we can all reach across the boundaries of hurt feelings and be there for one another, but broken relationships seem to be the lasting legacy of their union, so time will tell. Heavy hearted...still tearful from the pain and self-disgust I could hear in Still Waters' voice this morning. That grace may abound...
