2007-04-11 2:28 PM A message to my fellow friends of Dorothy... Nothing pithy or funny today boys and girls...
Reports coming out of California this week note that 1 in 10 gay men in LA have used Crystal Meth in the last six months. That is seriously, seriously screwed up. Guys, what the ($%k are you thinking? This stuff seriously messes you up and is HIGHLY addictive...According to www.stopmethaddiction.com, "Long-term methamphetamine abuse results in many damaging effects, including addiction. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disease, characterized by compulsive drug-seeking and drug use which is accompanied by functional and molecular changes in the brain. In addition to being addicted to methamphetamine, chronic methamphetamine abusers exhibit symptoms that can include violent behavior, anxiety, confusion, and insomnia. They also can display a number of psychotic features, including paranoia, auditory hallucinations, mood disturbances, and delusions (for example, the sensation of insects creeping on the skin, called "formication"). The paranoia can result in homicidal as well as suicidal thoughts." We lost huge numbers of two generations of us to AIDS practically before we knew what hit us. Don't let this drug and the generation it is threatening now be our next legacy. Drug resistant HIV is on the rise on both coasts, and every group that's analyzed it says that Meth is a major contributing cause. Please educate yourself...don't be stupid. And here's me on my high horse for a second. Don't give the homophobic jerks out there any more ammunition. Have fun, sure, but don't be as irresponsible as THEY seem to think we are. There, I'm done. Be well. Love. Celebrate. Live. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
