2007-08-27 6:30 AM Things that puzzle me in today's media. Sometimes, I just don't understand America. Why is anyone still listening to Rush Limbaugh, when he spouts such racist garbage. Doesn't any station manager who buys this guy have a soul?
Over at RM's hangout, we've been posting about Kid Nation on CBS. I'll say here what I said there...this is the Romans throwing the Christians to the lions for entertainment. I'm not just sad and mad, I'm sickened. This is voyeurism at its most puerile. Shame on anyone...ANYONE...who watches or advertises on this program. And how do I respond to those who say, "How can you attack it until you've seen it?" I say that I don't have to watch a snuff film to know it's sick and disgusting. There may indeed be some drama and pathos to be had in 'Kid Nation.' But the entire process was exploitive at best. I wonder what the late, great Fred Friendly would have to say about his former network now. Sick. Sick. Sick. Why is the Michael Vick dog abuse and killing case suddenly a case about race and "culture"? With all due respect to Jamie Foxx, and the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP, it's not that what Mr. Vick did violated some code of conduct for African American celebrities...it's that he violated basic humanity. American Gladiators is coming back to NBC. Say it ain't so. Please say it ain't so. Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
