That was my reaction when I opened my Washington Post news email this week.

Okay, by now we've all heard of the incredible boneheaded, Orwellian (I've now used that word twice in two weeks...wow) "press conference" held by FEMA during the California fires...the press conference where FEMA staffers asked softball questions of the spokesperson...essentially a theatrical presentation of self-congratulatory yadda yadda.

Then I heard that one of the people in charge of media relations that essentially was to blame for that event resigned. Well good. That sounds right.

But the Washington Post now tells us why he resigned. John "Pat" Philbin resigned as Director of External Affairs for FEMA to take the job of Public Affairs Director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He's now the guy who will be keeping us informed as to the actions of America's spy machine....the guy who allowed a play acted press conference.
