I'm leading a retreat this weekend at a church camp on the lovely, freezing, rain-soaked western shore of Lake Michigan. It's entitled, "Faith on Film" and I'm looking at all kinds of ways that faith, God and religion are depicted in films. First, any particular ones that come to mind for you? Second, that's why no posts yet. This sorting through DVD's and watching hours and hours of movies, including "The Robe" (eek), "The Greatest Story Ever Told" (Oh, John Wayne, you bad, bad actor), and "King of Kings" (Jesus wasn't enough to carry a movie, we needed an underground freedom movement led by Barabbas to keep us involved in the story), takes LOTS of time. Coolest religious allusion to date...."Children of Men" the scene in the barn. PUH-LEEZE, one more allusion to the Nativity and Luke is gonna sue for copyright infringement.
