Faery's Child is down to 403 pages, from 417. Usually, I am happy about adding words and pages, but right now, I am gratified that I've seen where the bloat and waste is in this novel and how to cut it. The story is working better, running smoother, with less clutter. I think I write with a stutter, adding story and characters that are not needed. They turn what I am trying to say into confused babble.

Brian (screenwriting instructor and dojo pal) said more than once, our work lies in expanding and tightening the story.

I did add a new chapter today. Felt good to write something brand new, after spending so many weeks revising and editing. Dave, from the Whittier Writers Club, pointed out that I leave my main bad guy hanging for too long in the mid portion of the book. It finally came to me how to fix that, so the new chapter addresses what happens to Manon. I caused her immense discomfort, which is always great fun. I've set it up so that I can occasionally go back to show her wandering around her castle mad, until the climactic ending and final battle with Claire. Fun fun fun!

My characters from the new novel and other ghosts are haunting me, but they will have to be patient and let me finish FC.
