Ondine She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She can take the dark out of the nighttime And paint the daytime black. --Bob Dylan 2006-04-14 7:12 PM Sam Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) |
Sam's plane lands in a couple of hours. This is going to be our second date in 40 years. I am so nervous. He's flying all the way across the country to spend the weekend with me. He's going to meet Joe, see my parents again. He hasn't seen them since we were 14. He hasn't been back to L.A. for 10 years. Last time he was here, he tried to find me but wasn't able to. He told me he went to our old junior high school, hoping to see our ghosts floating around. Feeling fat, ugly, old. Paralyzed. At least I packed, yay. Got my hair done. He sounded nervous on the phone too. I just don't want to screw it up. Sometimes I wish I lived in a cave on an island inhabited only by women and cats. Men are just so complicated. |
