Digging Deeper

The morning began foggy and stayed that way until about noon, at which point it cleared and stayed rather warm. It's rather nice weather to work in, actually. We laid out a couple of new 5m trenches here at Holar, but both contained very little of interest.

We continued digging deeper into the long trench here as well, and have taken it to the point where we now have many more stones that define walls without doubt, but we have different ideas about which lines of stones go with which batches of turf, and which walls go together (if any do). Some of these issues should be resolved tomorrow as we take out more earth.

In the meantime, various project members have been out surveying other farms trying to find more buried turf structures for us in the trenching and profiling team to examine. Out usual Monday-night meeting takes place after dinner, and we will all hear updates from all our various teams.

By the way, did you know that if you're digging in a midden and decide to go do something else half-way through, that we call that a midden-life crisis? Da-da-dum. Thanks. I'll be here the rest of the month.
