Sent off another story to Strange Horizons last night. I haven't sent them anything since they published my short-short, Five Things of Beauty. It occurs to me that this is pretty much par for the course for me. I send stories out to target markets until I finally manage a sale, then I either never send them anything again or it takes me far too long to send something new. It happened with the Third Alternative, it happened with Realms of Fantasy, and it happened with Ideomancer.

I suspect that it is simply down to fear. Before I sold them anything, well it didn't much matter that they turned my stories down. But when they've bought something... well, I have to send them a story they have no choice to buy, otherwise I'd be going backwards, right? And how do I know what I'm writing now is that good?
