Got started on the second story in my six-story sequence today (well, the third story, but we're being chronological here not story-logical). Knocked out a few hundred words at lunchtime today. Last weeks story was set in ancient Greece. This week we've moved up to not-so-ancient Egypt. In many ways, this one is a lot easier to research. There are lots and lots of books on Egyptian history, and the Egyptians were kind enough to write things on large blocks of stone. Of course, trying to find out about the daily lives of the Egyptians is a little more difficult. Want to know about Egyptian toilets and you have to delve a little deeper (if you were poor, you went outside, if you were richer, you used a bucket of sand and some stone blocks to squat on, if you were very rich, you might get a wooden seat, with a tray of sand beneath, since you asked). Now, of course, I have to find a way to fit toilets into my story. As I have yet to come up with any plot details or the ending, I'm sure I can fit a toilet in there somewhere.
