My negligence of this poor journal continues. My excuse: I've been really short of time again. It's amazing how little free time I get each day. Part of this is from putting 2+ hours of writing every day, so I can't complain. Nonetheless, my journal has been sending me pleading looks with its little brown eyes and making me feel guilty. (I'm not even looking at my other journal).

So, here goes:

Novel Progress
Finished Chapter 5. Chapter 5 is still in longhand, but I'm guessing it's a bit above 1000 words. We'll say 1000 to be on the safe side. That makes the novel 10,000 words so far. I therefore declare it 1/3 of the way through. Which is a good thing, as the action is really kicking in and is going to start running away at an increasing pace.

I've plotted out most of the key events for the rest of the book and put them in an approximate order. I'm sure they won't stay that way, but it'll do for now. Lots of detail to fill in, of course, but I don't want to know that until I get to it.

I'm a little worried that the book is going to be a lot darker than the last one (and I suspect the last one may be on the edge of darkness for a children's book). There are themes that I'm including in this book that you don't see in children's books normally. I'm attempting to keep them on a level that won't disturb too greatly, but this may turn into a YA book in the end.

Targets for Tomorrow
Plot out Chapter 6 plus three pages of Chapter 6.

Tomorrow's a Saturday, and I almost always get less written on the weekends.
