I've inserted about 5,000 words just before the climax of the novel and I think it works pretty well. The pacing is fast, which was something I was worried about, and there's plenty of conflict. The next stage is to go through the climax, making minor changes, and decide the exact point at which to guillotine off the ending and write a new one. I haven't exactly worked out how I'm going to do this new ending. I have to save the life of a character I had killed in the last version. This will be tough because all of the set-up so far is related to blocking off possible ways to do this. Ho hum.
Steph has just sold another story, this time to Lone Star Stories, which, if you've been reading my occasional review journal, you'll know is an online zine I've been particularly impressed by. Although I'm biased, I think the story she's sold is a wonderful one, too. That's three stories in less than three months, all to good markets. I'm really proud of her, and of course, I take full credit. ;) We've had a productive and relaxing weekend. The weather's been good, particularly yesterday, and we've done some good walks to clear our stresses away. We've also done a lot of writing between us today. It almost makes the thought of all that work I've got to do on Monday morning bearable. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
