Should be an interesting one tonight. Kerry and Bush supporters will be partying all night, but probably thinking they've won after the all but certain "too close to call" states feverishly tally ballots...

Well, I was supposed to be covering it for our class. I was supposed to be in a northern Chicago Suburb, hanging with the dems and republicans at their staid soirees.

And instead, here I sit, watching the whole thing unfold --from my studio apartment.

Too bad really, but does it make sense for two people to cover the exact same events with the exact same angle? Probably not. And since I've got to play Editor tomorrow, I was given the night off.

I'm writing this like I'm yearning to be out there getting the scoop on the presiential elections. How misleading. Honestly, it's nice to plop down on my chair, have a Miller Lite or two and let the Dan Rathers and Tom Browkaws of the world tell me what's happening.

I've written a lot lately. Three stories more than 650 words Wed-Fri. I spent countless hours on a midterm over the weekend. I've been doing a lot of reading as well -- from my local daily, my previous local online daily and, of course, the NYT Sunday edition. Oh yeah, forgot about that pesky editing homework... So, yes, tonight I will view as a well-deserved day off.

I owe it to myself to enjoy it, and maybe even do some laundry. Wait a minute, that's not very fun. But, well, I do have to do it sooner or later. Might was well get it done. To hell with it. I'm cracking a beer and kicking my feet up.

I might even order a pizza.
