Long week = Over

I just got home. After a long week of writing stories and "playing editor," I'm home.

But guess what? This week is not over. I have to turn in a smallish story (350 words) by midnight tonight. Strange deadline, yes? Well, it's because my professor is a copy desker over at the Chicago Tribune, and that's when he's finished for the night. This shouldn't take too long, but I'd rather be having a beer and reflecting on the week.

And when that's finished.... still not finished! I've got to be back on campus on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., probably fighting the inate tendency to sleep to 10 a.m. on the weekend. I think I should set the coffee maker to 730 just in case.

We have an all-day program tomorrow, in which we'll listen to a gamut of lecturers and take an "exciting bus tour" through Chicago to learn about the history and diversity of the city. I'm actually looking forward to it, but it REALLY gets in the way of watching my beloved Golden Gophers roll over to Wisconsin once again. I guess I'll spare myself the pain (and the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol.)

So, at the end, I'm stuck here thinking: WHAT WEEKEND??? Oh well, it's only a year-long program, and my money tells me to suck it up, and get as much out of this as I can -- even if day to day habits sometimes attempt to get in the way of that.

Anyway, I know this isn't very interesting, exciting or funny. But, I hope you enjoyed it anyway (as little as possible), and have a hell of a weekend.

Congratulations to my good freind Swanny, who was sworn in as a lawyer in the state of Illinois yesterday.

Time to go write (AGAIN).
