I got a very nice letter from the editor of the Sails & Sorcery anthology saying that, although my story had a "certain power and beauty to it," it just wasn't right for that particular collection. (My interpretation: insufficiently swashbuckling.)

So it's off to Realms of Fantasy. To be honest, as much as I would have liked to have been in a Real, Live Book, I think it will probably get a much bigger readership in RoF.

And if they decide that it's not their thing, well, I understand that All The Cool Kids publish in Strange Horizons, too.

I'm arrogant enough to think that it's a damn good story; it just needs to find its proper home.
