I know that flowers are supposed to stay fresher for a longer period of time if you put them in water. Some buds will even open into flowers.

But the dandelions Hunter gave me are starting to freak me out. For the first 24 hours, although a few closed up, a bunch of them were cheerfully wide awake and fully open. I was surprised by how healthy they looked, but it was within expected parameters.

By now, they've all closed up -- but some of them are still growing. The two tallest have grown at least an inch and a half since I put them in the vase. And when I turned on my bedside lamp tonight, it took less than 60 seconds for one of them to bend its stem towards the new light source.

I think I may need to move them to another room if I want to sleep tonight....
