Jam Session notes

Mood:
Sad

I often don't put moods in, above, but some days I just get sort of melancholy. Seems this holiday season is doing it to me a lot, but that's probably a post for another blog entry.

Anyway. Jam session notes from December 10th

Our rhythm player and other singer, Steve, was not there, nor was he expected. We did it with four of us, and Bill, the new bass player, had to leave after a little over two and a half hours. We usually go till around five; I could go longer but most of the time the guys leave between 5 and 6, so we get a solid four hours in.

So I did almost all the singing, and played a lot of rhythm guitar, and ignored the keyboards for the most part. It was sort of funny because I thought my voice sounded better at the end of the rehearsal, I was getting a little "rock and roll" raspiness to it, which was actually probably the precursor to losing my voice completely.

Song list:

Just What I Needed Cars
Something So Strong Crowded House
Day Tripper Beatles
Only Love BoDeans
Kryptonite 3 Doors Down
Best Friend's Girl Cars
What I Like About You Romantics
Walk Of Life Dire Straits
Something Beatles
Let It Be Beatles
Stealin' Uriah Heep
Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd
Wake Me Up When September Comes Green Day

I didn't sing Stealin' but the rest I belted it out on. Bill (TB Player) is a very good musician with an excellent sound and a solid idea of how to work with a drummer. I think that when we get Steve into the act, we'll sound as good as we've sounded in a while.

Bill our lead player had to go directly to a practice for the 80's band that was detailed in my earlier entries. This was to be their second rehearsal, and it seems like they pretty much have a full band now. That's good, I hope they get out and play and I'll go check them out.

Meanwhile, with our song list, about 70 tunes we've done before and another 20 on the burner, we may beat them out.

Looking forward to the next rehearsal...
