Saturday Blues

Blues, as in blue scrubs for work.

I'm not supposed to work today, but the weather was bad at 7 am and when I called my staff member to see how things were out her way, she was already on her way to work.

My wife was supposed to work today, but she was very nervous about the driving conditions, and her hands were aching from some work she did yesterday at home. So I volunteered to come in instead. Seeing as how it was a choice between spending five hours working on patients or supervising 3 boys (my two sons and their 8 year old friend) for at least 3 or 4 of those hours, I wasn't terribly unhappy with this option.

I am good with hanging with my own kids, but put me in a "hosting" situation, where I have to be responsible for the feeding and care of someone else's kid as well, and...well, my wife is a little better equipped for that sort of work.

I pulled out my work in progress (a mystery centered on a dental clue) to read over and maybe start thinking about trying to get it published again. It's clocked in at a too-short word count, I think, but I don't remember the exact numbers now. But you know, I think I'm just going to go over it again and then send this thing off, see if anyone likes it.

Hope all are having a good start to the weekend. Take care.
