Finally...Bone Shop read

I bought this for the Kindle through Amazon. I would have liked to buy the print version; I in fact posted a couple of times on his blog comments that I was interested in a print copy, as I have the other 4 in paperback editions. But in the end it was just too costly to justify the expense, and our Kindle (well, my kids' Kindle, since it was THEIR Christmas gift from their aunt) was new, and...

BONE SHOP, by T.A. Pratt, was a good read, from start to finish. It answers so many of those "where did that come from" type of questions that one might have had when reading the four traditionally published novels, and that alone was worth reading it for.

But it did add to Marla's tale by detailing her background quite well, supporting the depth of character that I felt she had in the other books. I enjoyed finding out how she got to be the chief sorcerer and protector of Felport, although I was sometimes amazed by just how smart and tough she is...almost unbelievably so. Unbeatable, or so it seems, even when she's matched against people with far more skill and experience. (I suppose they all have their weaknesses, and Marla is really good at identifying and exploiting them.)

It was a short-ish novel, which I read in a little over one day. I note that the author, Tim Pratt, is considering writing the fifth book of the series as a donation supported serial novel. If possible I will support him, but I can't make any guarantees there. I can guarantee, however, that I will purchase a Kindle version (at least) of that book if it gets written.

Here's the link to Amazon's editions of BONE SHOP if you're interested in reading more about it or buying either the print edition ($19.00) or the Kindle edition ($5.00).
