2010-03-04 4:41 PM Thought on my own dental post Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) I was rereading an entry I made about a month or so ago (does anyone else do that, or am I the only one?), and had a thought about my closing paragraph in that entry...
Here's the paragraph: I really think the only way to manage this is to open state-run clinics, employ dental school grads at a decent salary, escalate that salary as they gain seniority, and take all comers...if you pay taxes you can go to these places. If you have private insurance or have funds available, you can go to a private dentist, but these clinics would almost have to take everyone, not just poor people or jobless people. It's a whole shift in the idea of how dentistry is delivered, but like medicine, I guess it's something that is going to have to be explored... The whole post is here:Access to Dental Care My thought wasn't all that important, but hey, I figured I may as well write it down. What I thought as I read it was that while something like the above would probably work and would probably solve the access to care problems, what would likely happen is that they'd put some stupid MBA or business type in charge of the clinical program, and they'd figure that it would need to be run like a business, and they'd have these dentists soon working for nothing and reducing patient care to the bare bones as soon as they could. Much like the insurance companies do today. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
